The Wave Project works closely with our local communities to offer as many children and young adults as possible a safe place to build resilience, self-confidence, and friendships. We would love to offer support to every child who needs us. However, demand for mental health services is rising, and funding isn't keeping pace. That means it's often left to charities like The Wave Project to fill the gap, which we can only do with your ongoing support.

📊 The Need on the Isle of Wight

1 in 5 children on the Isle of Wight are living in poverty, with over 7,000 children affected. This is among the highest rates in the South East of England.

17.4% of children aged 6 to 16 on the Island had a probable mental disorder in 2021, up from 11.6% in 2017. For boys, the prevalence was 18.6%, and for girls, it was 16.2%.

A 2023 survey revealed that 30% of young people aged 11 to 25 had deliberately harmed themselves, 34% had considered suicide, and 11% had attempted suicide.

These statistics highlight the urgent need for accessible mental health support for our young people.
