Our beautiful Dad was diagnosed with Small Cell Lung Cancer at the start of December 2013. Although this news was so very devastating, Dad went in with every belief that he could beat the disease which causes such obscene and unnecessary heartache. SCLC is a horribly aggressive form of this relentless disease, and statistics for successful outcomes are terrible, but our approach as a family focused on Dad joining the minority of wonderful survivors.
Dad was offered 6 courses of Chemo, which began on Christmas Eve. However, shortly after the start of the second cycle, Dad fell ill and was taken to Wexham Park Hospital, where they had confirmed that the Cancer had spread to the brain.
Dad remained throughout his usual self- funny, strong, loyal, loving.. amazing – always determined to win his battle and throughout was an inspiration to us all. His family surrounded him, always - and although the cancer was too aggressive to contain, we do not hold the view that it has 'beaten' us - but instead separated us for a while.
'Peter Wayne Weightman' touched the lives of so very many people, and we hold unique and wonderful memories of our life with him that will stay with us for always – until we say hello again. Words cannot describe how much love we have for this amazing, beautiful- perfect(!) man, and he will be with us every day.
There are no words to express how we will miss our precious Dad every minute of every day - and his passing has left a huge hole in so many of our lives, which will never be filled. However, we celebrate the life of such an incredible man and have been so blessed by knowing him as our father. He will continue to be a part of our family always just as he always has been – our love for him will last for ever.
We ask for any donations to be made to Thames Hospice, to be made in memory of Peter, as we know that so many of you carry so many amazing memories of him.
