We raise money to support palliative and critical care

Story

After eight years as an HMI, I will be leaving Ofsted on 1/6/22 (last working day 25/3/22). It is our tradition in the East of England to have a 'whip round' when someone leaves. I have asked that this is not done for me. However, instead, if anyone would like to make a donation to our charity to mark the occasion I would be very grateful.

As many of you know, my eldest daughter died very suddenly, aged 21, in June 2013. She died from SUDEP (sudden unexpected death in epilepsy) and the coroner eventually ruled that her death was preventable. Aimee's death has left a gaping void that can never be filled.

Aimee graduated from university and qualified as a nurse three months before her death. She was working as a staff nurse at our local hospital but also as a bank nurse at our local hospice. She did part of her training at Keech Hospice Care and planned to specialise in palliative care after she had some 'mainstream' experience under her belt. She never got the chance to do that.

We started fundraising in Aimee's memory shortly after she died and went on to create 'Aimee's Fund', our registered charity. We have raised tens of thousands of pounds in her name. Aimee's Fund is her legacy and a way to make sure her memory stays alive.

Any and all donations are most welcome, no matter how small. Thank you for taking the time to read this message. I will miss you all.
