Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
On Saturday 9th June 2018 the West Bank and Lorne House L5th and L6th boys (with some willing tutors) will set out after games to walk the 17 mile perimeter of Rutland Water.
Many boys will have cycled it or been to the Aqua Park but this is a whole different prospect; especially after an afternoon of games! We aim to complete the distance inside of 5 hours and be back in House by 1am on Sunday morning. There is sure to be the odd blister, a few weary faces and some motivational corralling from the staff but I am sure the finish line will signify a feeling of satisfaction for those who make it there.
We wanted to make this tough to make it a worthy fundraising effort for the school charity 'The Mango Tree'.
The Mango Tree is an orphan support programme that aims to help support children who have lost parents to AIDS, Malaria and other horrible diseases in both Kenya and Tanzania. They aim to raise awareness and knowledge into positive behaviour change to improve sexual health, malaria rates, hygiene and family planning. The Mango Tree is the school’s main charity to donate to, as Uppingham
recognises the brilliant work that The Mango Tree to help support children on a local scale, to help every single child they can. The Mango Tree helps provide a “local solution to a local problem delivered by local people”.
To that end ANY DONATION you can make can be put to use at a local level where it can have maximum effect in a short period of time.
Thank you for supporting the boys of West Bank and The Mango Tree.
