Story
In October 2018 my wife Row woke up one Monday morning with numb toes and tingling fingers. Fourteen days later she was completely paralysed, on ICU at Leeds General Infirmary being mechanically ventilated. Unfortunately she ended up with a tracheostomy and was on breathing support for five weeks.. Row spent a total of 19 weeks in hospital undergoing gruelling rehab to learn to breath, talk, swallow, move and walk again. Having been told at Christmas it would take six months to walk, she successfully smashed all targets and walked out of hospital at the end of February. GBS is an unheard of disease and is absolutely devastating for all involved, not only the patient but their family too. Our two children Oscar and Maggie have watched their mummy fight back smiling and I couldn’t be prouder of her. We are raising money for GAIN so that other families are supported when dealing with this terrible illness.
