Story
Our page shows a mother and baby rhino existing happily and safely in a protected range in Africa. Hopefully they will be safe for others to see for a long time. But rhino poaching has reached crisis point. More than 1,000 rhinos are killed each year in South Africa alone. Not only are these beautiful animals killed but they also often suffer horribly in the process. Time is running out. With the death of "Sudan", the last Northern White male rhino last year, the Northern White Rhino will soon be extinct. Three of the five species of rhino are on the Critically Endangered list, and two of them now have fewer than 80 animals left in the wild. Save the Rhino International organises protection for rhinos, including support for local teams to get training and equipment, and education programmes in order to protect the rhinos where they live and, hopefully, stem the demand for rhino horn. Together the aim is to stop the barbaric poaching of rhino and to stem habitat loss so that in 20 years’ time, rhinos will no longer be near extinction. We want to see all five rhino species thriving in the wild for future generations. With your support, we can make a difference. Please support Guy H-W running the London Marathon in April -- thank you so much.
