Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My grandfather, John Wilson was an iconic figure who touched the lives of many people during his lifetime. He was a bomber pilot flying in WW2 at the age of 19, which was always his dream. He crashed in the sea but was able to save the majority of his crew even though they spent 5 days in a liferaft in January. He then went on to complete further missions.

He went on to become a pioneer in the printing industry and lectured at the London College of Printing. Throughout his life he was always cheerful and would be happy to strike up a conversation with the people around him in whatever situation he found himself.

He had a stroke shortly after his 90th birthday, but typically he never gave up and always had a friendly word for his carers and put on particularly brave face for my Nan, Ethel to whom he had been married to over 60 years. He remains an inspiration to his family and not a day goes by without us thinking of him.
