I want to support Angel Wishes who have provided vital suport to wee warrior Faye. Faye is the daughter of a friend and student at Wings.

Faye was born with an extremely rare life threatening condition called Diamond Blackfan Anaemia. Basically Faye‘s bone marrow didn‘t produce the red cells needed to sustain her life.

 Faye had been blood transfusion dependant from birth having received her first transfusion at 11 weeks old. To keep her alive she needed this life saving treatment every 3/4 weeks. This amount of artificial blood is also detrimental to her health and caused iron overload on her organs. Faye needed aggressive chelation therapy to reduce the amount of iron in her little body. But iron was always going to be a problem for Faye which could lead to further life limiting conditions. 

So, to give Faye the best chance of leading a normal healthy life it was recommended that Faye have a bone marrow transplant. 

On 4th September 2019 Faye received this vital bone marrow transplant in St Mary’s, London, through a non related selfless donor. Faye hasn’t needed a blood transfusion in over 2 years, her new bone marrow has been doing a great job.

Most recently tho Faye was diagnosed with Non Hodgkin lymphoma and received 4 months of chemo and other drugs to clear the cancer from her little 7 year old body.

 She still attends regular scans and checkups at hospital to make sure she is totally disease free.
