Khalsa Aid provides monthly welfare support for Sikh families who have lost their sons and fathers to the violent and destructive period from mid 1980's to mid 1990's. Following a needs and means assessment, Khalsa Aid provides monthly support to these affected families.

 

Winter Appeal

The winters in Panjab can be harsh and each year there are many deaths related to the freezing weather. The poor and the downtrodden suffer the most from the harsh winters. Most of the Shaheed Parivaars live in decrepit and dilapidated dwellings, which are exposed to the elelments.

 

Khalsa Aid presently supports 110 Shaheed families with regular financial/medical aid and repairing/rebuilding of rundown houses. This year KA has already completed the building of 2 houses and further 2 will be completed by the end of this year. We are inundated with various requests for support from across Punjab, and our team is working tirelessly, but the rebuilding work is painfully slow. We will need to assist those families who will be exposed to the approaching winter.

We will distribute the following to each person in the household:

* 2 blankets

* 2 jumpers

* 2 shawls

* 4 pairs of socks

* 1 pair of thermal leggings

We estimate the cost to be £50 per person, and in the majority of the households there are 2 or more family members. KA appeals to you the Sangat to donate generously so that we can purchase the required item by the end of September. Thank you
