XYP Xtreme Challenge 3 Peaks and a Pint · 2 April 2022

We’re Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), and we’re a suicide prevention charity. We host a helpline for people affected by suicide, as well as vital online resources for anyone who needs them.

Story

What started out as a quick discussion, escalated quickly into a gentleman’s bet and an extreme challenge. The challenge sees the 2 men take on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks, in a race to finish before the other..

It’s a battle against England and Wales, in St Georges Corner, is our registered manager Tom. In the Welsh corner is our highly esteemed outdoor guru, ultra runner, past Bob Graham round completer, all round mad dog, Justin. Justin believes he can run the 3 peaks twice! (Yes twice!) quicker than Tom can get round in full hiking gear once.

The side bet, a gentleman’s wager is that the winner receives a pint, hence the title!

There will be a team supporting our gladiators around the course, some taking part, some no doubt watching in a warm location. We are hopeful one of our children will also complete one peak, so truly a team effort!

Although there is a gentleman’s bet, we are also looking to support Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) is leading a movement against suicide. Every week 125 people in the UK take their own lives. And 75% of all UK suicides are male. CALM exists to change this by offering life saving services, provoking conversation and bringing people together to reject living miserably. From advice on our site, through to free, confidential chats with our helpline staff, online or on the phone, we’re here for whoever needs us, every day. No matter what. £8 is enough to fund one potentially life-saving call.

So please give generously to support Team Justin or Team Tom in their crazy challenge and race against each other!
