Young Archaeologists' Avebury Challenge · 10 June 2017

The Council for British Archaeology is an educational charity, working throughout the UK to involve people in archaeology and to promote the appreciation and care of the historic environment. As a small independent organisation, we rely on funding and donations to continue our vital work.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. You can sponsor me and the Wiltshire young archaeologists, helping us to raise funds so that more children can follow their archaeological dreams.

The Young Archaeologists' Club (YAC) is the only UK-wide organisation providing regular opportunities for young people to follow their love for archaeology and history. Local club Branches arrange unique and exciting activities for 8 to 16 year-olds. Young people get their first taste of archaeology, learn teamwork and transferable skills, and grow to become the future custodians of the places where we live and work.

Run by volunteers, Branches are supported by the Council for British Archaeology (CBA), an educational charity (http://new.archaeologyuk.org).  YAC members from the three Branches in Wiltshire are walking 4 miles around the Avebury landscape, and completing fiendish archaeological challenges on the way.  The sponsored walk will raise funds that the CBA will use for things like First Aid kits and training for our volunteers, to make the very best (and safest) archaeological experiences for kids who are fascinated by the past.
