I am very excited to say that this summer I have been given the opportunity to volunteer in Mblae, Uganda with balloon ventures, as part of my International Citizen Service (ICS). I will be assisting local entrepreneurs in creating and building up their businesses, in order to help them establish sustainable livelihoods. ICS is a government funded programme that works with communities
that have specifically requested their help, and effectively encourages young people in the UK to become active citizens and make a global impact.

I will be spending 10 weeks over summer working closely with local informal entrepreneurs to develop their business, which I believe is an especially effective way to stabilise communities and ensure sustained development.

The first part of my project is a challenge to fundraise £800. This will go directly to Balloon ventures and their ICS partners to ensure that other young volunteers like myself can continue to play their role as active citizens and create substantial change in the developing world. 

Whilst I am fundraising and volunteering over summer you can keep track of my progress, as I will be posting lots of pictures; here on my Just Giving page and on my Facebook page.
