Why did I choose Amnesty International?

In my past fundraising activities I chose charities related to research & development for certain illnesses. Don't get me wrong, I will continue doing this.

However, this year I have been influenced by the uprising of people around the world against injustice, freedom robbery, thought control, economic inequality and violence because they expressed their thoughts/opinions.

My background is German/Turkish. With the protests started in May in Turkey these events suddenly draw my attention to everything and everyone surpressing human thoughts and violating human rights. Soon after it became a global protest and it showed me how important it is to raise your voice - whether being physically part of the protest or spreading the word online/on the streets etc.

I followed several sites and Amnesty International was the support for the people around the world during these protests, as well as, the voice of the people around the world.

This is my way to thank and support Amnesty International for what they are doing globally for human rights.
