I'm undertaking fundraising activities to support VSO and family and friends have kindly agreed to help too !

So what is VSO and why should we help them. Very simply - they are an international aid organisation, though instead of sending cash or clothes to developing countries in need, they send people .... like me ! Experienced professionals who work with organisations to share skills and develop their capacity - basically we work ourselves out of a role.

It costs VSO £25,000 to send someone like me overseas for 2 years & I in turn work for a basic allowance. So we need your help to enable VSO to send more volunteers overseas ... maybe you might even think of doing it yourself one day??? ;- )

My brother James recently undertook the Dublin City Triathlon for VSO (& raised over £800 for VSO including gift aid). His donations are listed on his justgiving page: www.justgiving.com/jamesbyrne2010.

The bag-packing day in ASDA, Kilkeel was very successful and raised £764 for VSO and ASOD (the NGO in Uganda I'll be working for). VSO's share is reflected in the off-line donations below.

The third and final event is a pub quiz in the Errigle Inn, Belfast - Friday 15th Oct - 7 for 7.30pm. Entry is £5/head. There will also be a raffle on the night.
