Giorgina Grace Liddell was born on May 29th 2009.  She was born with gastroschisis, (a condition where the bowel is outside the body).  We knew about this and were prepared for her to have surgery and spend some time in hospital.

What we did not know was that the bowel had twisted and died.  There was nothing the surgeons could do.  She was given morphine and we were able to take her to Martin House Children's Hospice.  Giorgina was cared for by her adoring Mummy and Daddy and we were all able to spend sunny glorious days in beautiful surroundings with caring, supportive staff.

This sad yet wonderful time with my precious grandaughter has given me treasured memories that will be forever etched on my heart. 

Giorgina Grace, our sunshine angel,  died on June 8th. 

Giorgina showed us all what strength really means.  As did Charlotte and Andrew.  If that little girl could fight so hard for a few days of precious life, and my beautiful daughter and her wonderful husband can find the strength to get through that, then surely I can run a few miles??

 

So that is why I am doing this.  For my wonderful daughter, Charlotte, her equally wonderful husband Andrew, and of course, for my precious darling grandaughter Giorgina Grace, forever in our hearts....
