Story

Hello and thankyou for visiting my page,               .... you are spreading some good karma   : )

"OPERATION PERU"  -  Eve of Amnesty

                                                                 This is my story.....so far!

I'm 32 years old, living with me 2 beautiful girls, in Abbotsbury, Dorset. I have found myself with time on my side, a passion to help other people, and a longing to travel again.....all this led me to Amnesty Intl and the "Charity Trek" through Peru!! This year i need to raise a LOT of money and organise LOTS of fundraising events,  keep on with the stopping smoking and get fit !!  The Trek is from 24th Sept - 3rd Oct 2010

I will be immersing myself in ancient Peruvian culture trekking + exploring the remote Lares region of the Peruvian Andes ... including Machu Picchu. Experiencing diverse scenery as i trek through traditional Andean villages and along high remote mountain trails.  I need YOUR help + i will keep you posted with my personal + physical journey!

The reason i've chosen Amnesty International is simple - protect the HUMAN - us, every one of us! Just LOOK at thier website and you will see WHY it motivates so many people! I can't believe we have to 'fight' for our BASIC human rights in this day and age!!!

For more information please contact me on   y.wykes@btinternet.com  Please check out my cause too  ....  http://www.amnesty.org.uk

If you could help with ANY DONATIONS for Raffles that would be brilliant! Cash or Online Donations are needed to!SPONSORS - Please contact me as I will be making Tshirts with thier names on them to wear during my fundraising and on my trek as advertising !!

Blog....!

10th Sept 2009 - I gave up smoking today - for good! It's a brilliant feeling, a long way to go but i am ever hopeful : )  I appologise in advance for being irritable at all !

08th Oct 2009 - this time next year i'd have completed my trek (wow) but not my mission... i've decided i would like to train to be an Amnesty 'speaker' who goes around schools educating young adults about the worlds important ever changing issues! I am currently helping to start up an 'Amnesty Youth Group' at 'Budmouth Technology College' - Weymouth, which i am very excited about! They are being very helpful towards my fundraising too... Thankyou  : ) The not smoking is going very well - even though i seem to be chain smoking in my dreams! I'm going on as many 'mini treks'/walks as possible + doing aquafit regularly... so i'm getting there slowly.

21st Nov 2009 - Where do i start this month?? I'm so busy now...I have a few fundraising events booked now and am looking forward to them a lot! The 'Budmouth Amnesty Youth Group' are growing in numbers now and they're very lovely and enthusiastic and very helpful - they meet up every tuesday lunchtime (if anyone from Budmouth would like to join let Mr Dukes know)
I'm currently making christmas cards (they will be ready to buy soon + i'll put a photo of them on here so you can see them) ALSO i'm making 'Greetings Cards' for Amnestys latest campaign "GCC" - for the public to send a message of hope to people whose Human Rights have been abused!! (for more information on this please read my "note" on Facebook or go to www.amnesty.org.uk)
I've still stopped smoking and my lungs are repairing themselves as we speak, i've got my tastebuds back too...hence the slight weight gain...but am walking more and starting to go to the gym now...i'll be fit in no time ; ) I've been watching video's on U-tube of people who have done the Inca Trail/Trek before and i'm getting REALLY excited now...still got so much to do but it's all coming together bit by bit!
Look out for my article in Decembers 'edition' of the 'Chesil Magazine' ... i've written an article called 'My Favourite Charity', I have contacted a lot of other newspapers to get awareness for 'Operation peru...' but still waiting for a reply! (bit of a recurrant theme)
I'm sure i've got lots more to tell you but I need to get on and do some fundraising!
Just wanted to say a BIG THANKYOU to 'everybody' who's helped me so far  xxxx
