We run a school in Northern India to educate children from a local slum area

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

During lockdown I started this pop-up book shop offering second hand books in return for donations to support Bright Sparks School in IndiaThe school is located in  a slum and provides education to children who otherwise wouldn't otherwise learn to read or write.

Many parents, who generally work as cleaners, labourers and fruit/veg sellers, have lost income due to Covid-19 and there is increased pressure on the children to go out to work. While school building is closed to support social distancing, home learning continues, and the school is also providing financial aid to those Bright Sparks families who are struggling.

If you want to (and are able to) make a donation to the charity, any small amount for your book would be very much appreciated. A small amount really goes a long way.

If you have any books you would like to donate, I'd be happy to take them. Anything that doesn't sell, I'll pass on to Oxfam.

Thank you!

Zahida

The charity is run by volunteers in the UK and India, with any services ( eg website) provided pro bono. Any reporting is done by the headteacher, and a local accountant who is also a volunteer. This means that all funds raised here will go directly to support the education and well-being of children that would otherwise not be able to go to school.
