Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Our swim was at Dedham Mill, Flatford, on the 11th August 2019. We battled 35 mph winds during out 1.5  mile swim and it took us 2 hours when it should have only taken an hour.

By the way this swim was made extra hard by the fact Pete can't swim, I dislocated my toes swimming and lost all feeling in my legs at one point. It made for an interesting swim.

We were also spontaneously joined by Hannah's dad, Huw who swam with the drinks flamingo.

For this swim we were covered by public liability insurance and we had a team of lifeguards and swim stewards on kayaks so please don't just randomly go at it on your own, this was an organised event.

Again, thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

For those who know me, know I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and that it's not the most fun condition. Ehlers Danlos Syndrome affects the connective tissues in your body which affect everything from muscles, tendons, bone. It can make you spontaneously dislocate, rupture tendons and worse rupture aortas and cause spontaneous death.

This all depends on the type of Ehlers Danlos Syndrome you have. It's a pretty big spectrum where some of us are mildly affected to being completely ruined and spending almost all of our lives in and out of intensive care.

Hannah and kindly asked me if I'd be interested in joining her in doing the Mill 2 Mill super relaxed float and swim combo and I thought why not raise some money too!

I've been so ill the past year I've been unable to continue my normal sport routine and this has been something I've had to clear with my doctors and physios to do.
