London to Amsterdam Cycle Challenge 2012 · 14 May 2012 to 17 May 2012 ·
Friends and colleagues,
We have decided to join our close friends at Liberty Global in support of a great charity, the Chello Foundation. Team JPMorgan has been assembled to cycle 300 kilometers from London to Amsterdam this May. Although the ultimate goal is to raise money and awareness for the Chello Foundation, our secondary goal is to win the race. As the great Ricky Bobby said, "if you ain't first, you're last." We appreciate your continued support.. well almost as much as the support provided by our lycra cycle shorts (no photographs will be permitted). We scoured the office for JPMorgan’s top athletes. With 200k+ employees globally, we had our selection of former Olympians, collegiate athletes, video game enthusiasts and not one, but multiple ping pong coaches. When it was all said and done, the following warriors accepted the gauntlet:
- Nick Marchant, Captain
- Chris Munro, First Mate
- David Lomer, First Mate's First Mate
- Zev Garell, Stow Away
- John Gilbert, Coach and First Alternate
- Lenny Carey, Deep Bench
The Chello Foundation specifically focuses on advancing the education of orphans affected by HIV and AIDS in sub-Saharan Africa. It provides educational scholarships to allow deserving children to access primary, secondary and polytechnic or college education. The funding provided by The Chello Foundation prioritises school fees. As of January 2012, it supports the education of 5,000 children.
