Zoe's 62 mile charity ride for CBIT

Zoe's 62 mile charity ride for CBIT · 13 September 2020
In July 2018 I was involved in an accident at the junior national road champs. I hit my head hard and sustained a traumatic brain injury. For a long time it put me completely out of my normal day to day life, let alone being well enough to do my sport. Brain injury affects every aspect of your life, I was so fatigued that for a year I could only attend school for an hour a day. I struggled with concentration, memory, speech, migraines, sensory problems, insomnia and anxiety.
Child Brain Injury Trust have helped me in so many ways to get back towards normal life. They've helped me source the right medical and rehabilitation support, helped me get back into education and complete my A levels, helped me understand how my brain works now and supported myself and my family practically and emotionally. When you suffer a brain injury your whole life gets turned upside down and it's hugely overwhelming what comes next- having someone to turn to who understands and can help makes a huge difference. CBIT support children, young people and their families affected by childhood acquired brain injury, they've made an enormous difference to my recovery and I want to say thank you, but also to help ensure their invaluable support can continue to be there for other young people when they need it too.
Because I suffered from extensive fatigue and daily migraines, it has been very hard for me to get back into sport. In March 2020 I could only cycle 8 miles, so this has been a really big challenge for me to build towards and I'd be hugely grateful for any donations. CBIT are a wonderful wonderful charity and I'd love to be able to give something back to them.
Thank you x
