I am braving the Ladies' National Angling Championship 2016 and hoping to come away a champion!

I have been entering angling competitions locally since November and have come away prize winner on a couple of occasions now. Local events tend to be against men, so I'm keen to enter an event against other ladies and see if I can have the same success.

This is a nerve wracking event as it is an open match and so I'm likely to be up against people who fish competitively representing England!

As part of the event I will need to catch the heaviest amount of fish to win. I will be practicing on a weekly basis until the event and will be kitted out in Cyril Flint branded clothes to raise awareness of the charity.

I'm hoping to raise £500 sponsorship which will be used to put on a group event by Cyril Flint Volunteers for lonely and/or socially isolated older people in the Greater Manchester area. The charity offers a premium befriending service for lonely older people, matching volunteer befrienders with older people in their local community and helping new friendships develop. The service is invaluable to the older people that it helps but I'm keen to help fund a social event, to help get some people who may feel socially isolated, out into the community, for a change of scenery and to meet new people.
