Running in memory of Ethel Hine

It was earlier this year, in January when Ethel passed away. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend to many people and is hugely missed. She was an inspiration to me, her granddaughter, becuase no matter what, she was always smiling, and thought of others before herself. She was a kind and wonderful lady, who went through so much, and to honour her resilliance and joy for life, I want to raise money for the hospice where she spent her last few days.
Princess Alice Hospice was there, not just for Ethel, but for my parents as well. Being Christmas it was a difficult time for all, but the hospice realised how important it was to look after my Mum and Dad, and be a pillar of support for them when things were so hard. I cannot thank them enough for what they did and the compassion they showed.
The event I am taking part in, is called Highland Fling and is a double marathon distance trail ultra along the West Highland Way in Scotland. I had to qualify for the race and it is taking place at the end of April 2018. I know this will be a challence, but every time I lace up my shoes, especially on the days I just want to lay in bed, I want to think of those who this charity helps, as well as my incredible Gran, and keep going - as that's what they have done. When Ethel was suffering from Alzheimer's Disease, she believed I was on television, running the London Marathon. At that time, the furthest I'd ever run was 5k. I wanted to do something which would push the very limits of my endurance and be worth supporting, so please donate generously, as it is for a very good cause, and I will not stop until I cross that finish line because I believe so strongly in why I am doing this. I will be with my husband, who will be running along with me, and wanted to support this worthy cause as well. He also loved his adopted grandmother and wants to honour her memory by completing this challenge alongside me.
Many thanks for all your support and I will keep you updated as to how the training is going.
All the best, Zoe x
