London Landmarks Half Marathon 2021 · 1 August 2021 ·

Our organisation is named after the Quetzal, a beautiful South American bird that is prized for its colourful feathers. Legend has it that the Quetzal dies when caged and so it has become a symbol of freedom. At the Quetzal Project we help women to break down the bars of their psychological cages and gain freedom. We empower vulnerable women to transform their lives by supporting their recovery from the trauma of childhood sexual abuse.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

If you know me, you'll know how much I used to love running. But as the years have gone by, and I have developed more responsibilities, my passion for running has begun to fade.

However, in August 2020, I started volunteering for a Leicester based charity called Quetzal who help counsel women who have suffered from childhood sexual abuse.

They are an incredible charity, which I am very proud to be a part of.

In November 2020, Quetzal gave me the chance to take part in the August 2021 London Landmarks Half Marathon. I asked my family if they would take part too and they said yes!

I started my training at the end of November, to begin with I couldn't even run for 15 minutes on the treadmill. But it has now been 4 weeks since then and on Boxing Day I ran 5 miles in 40 minutes!

I am aiming to raise £250 for Quetzal. If you have any spare cash at all, I would really appreciate a little funding.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story!
