Hello boys and girls,

Listen up. Believe it or not UK and European waters are home to a third of the world's whale, dolphin and porpoise species, infact there are 23 species found off our shores (common and bottlenose dolphins, orca (killer whales), sperm whales and humpback whales to name but a few).

Unfortunately these beauties aren't protected by international law meaning populations are suffering from a variety of human activities; bycatches, overfishing, marine pollution, habitat destruction... and global warming of course. With such a large proportion of these animals living in our waters there will be significant consequences to global populations if we don't help protect them through marine protected zones.

ORCA is an amazing little charity working out of the North East and South coasts of England trying hard to raise awareness of these animals, monitor their populations across Europe and help the UK government to establish marine protected areas.
