Story
Hello, we’re Amy, Claire, Sarah and Poppy. We’re taking part in a demanding Tough Mudder in Henley to raise vital funds for charity.
Alzheimer’s is a disease that will touch each of us at some point in our lives. One in 14 people over 65 have dementia, while one in six people over 80 do. Alzheimer’s disease is the most common cause of dementia and describes a set of symptoms that can include
memory loss and difficulties with thinking, problem-solving or language. Alzheimer’s is a progressive disease. This means that gradually, over time, more parts of the brain are damaged and the disease gets more severe.
Alzheimer’s Society works to directly improve the lives of people affected by dementia and their families, offering them advice and support, campaigning for a dementia-friendly society and researching cures and prevention.
For a good cause like this, we needed a bloody good challenge. Running a gruelling ten miles, tackling over twenty obstacles and being covered in a whole load of mud should do the job. Tough Mudder promises that we’ll have our physical and mental boundaries
challenged by steep terrain and cement-like mud, not to mention an exhausting
ten mile run.
All four of us are in training now, working on our cardio and upper body strength before 5 May. Any donation you can give will make our training feel slightly easier and ease our
aches and pains. Every penny you can spare will be going towards this deserving
cause.
Thank you!
