We support education and empower families to break the cycle of generational poverty.

Story

In March 2024, I'll be climbing Kilimanjaro alongside KGN Training while taking the opportunity to raise money in support of an incredible charity focused on poverty alleviation - Joy for Humanity, Uganda.

The charity works to support and empower rural villagers, children and families. Keegan, our team lead, visited Uganda on a charity mission and saw the struggles and work being done first hand. This is certainly a great opportunity to make a difference, and it's only right. That's why I'm committing to raising £1000 of the £14000 we want to raise as a team. We'll thoroughly appreciate your input!

More info from Keegan:

"Joy For Humanity is a community-led organisation based in Uganda, with the support of a dedicated team in the UK. Their mission is breaking the cycle of generational poverty through quality Education, affordable Healthcare via a new healthcare centre that has been built and Economic Growth Projects providing loans and resources to villagers. Having witnessed first hand the lives they are changing in Kayazanga, Uganda, and living with the Chief of the village for two weeks, I believe KGN can make a massive difference. Richard the Chief is a key member of the organisation and one of the greatest men I have ever met. He opens not only his home but his school to over 400 local children providing education and meals and provides jobs to his community. He deserves a spot on our Kilimanjaro expedition, so a fraction of crowdfunding will go towards his Kilimanjaro trek to enable him to raise funds for his community. The rest of the donations will go directly to women and children in the community.I ask you to donate whatever you are able to, to support a child to go to school or a woman to have a safe pregnancy and delivery. Without this they would be unable to access education and healthcare. For example, sending a child to school costs only £90 per term (£270 per year) where they are boarding and looked after with all meals provided. Our aim is to support as many kids as we can through their schooling journey. In addition, many women in Kyazanga cannot afford healthcare. It was difficult to learn that many women are giving birth in small homes with no electricity or running water and the maternal and child death rate is extremely high. At the Joy For Humanity health centre built by the charity, it costs just £50 for all antenatal appointments and to provide a safe birth, so a portion of the money raised will also be going to as many pregnant soon to be mothers we can support.Thank you for your support! 100% of donations for the charity will go directly to the community."
