MARATHON - DONE (Badly)
LONDON TO PARIS BIKE RIDE - TRAINING OVER. LESS THAN A WEEK TO GO!!!
I am mad! No its true. Click here!
I ran the London Marathon on 17th of April this year and I'm now in training for a London to Paris Bike Ride in July. Less than 3 months of each other! Why you ask? ALL FOR CHARITY!
I really wanted to raise money for the Royal Marsden Hospital ( http://www.royalmarsden.nhs.uk/home ) that helped Nicole's Mum Jenny with her illness before she passed away in July of 2009. So, I thought, I can run, I've done a marathon before, so why not try that first. So I signed up and got into the London Marathon on the 17th of April. 26.2 miles of, hopefully, constant, running!
But I'm mad (i've said it before) and I thought a marathon isn't a big enough challenge to inspire donations - especially since I've already completed one. Well two now!
So, I'm also going to be riding from London to Paris on a bicycle in July! 300 miles in 4 days.
You can ask anyone who knows me, I am not good on a road bike. I've done a couple of training rides and I tend to fall off at least half the time. I've stacked it on gravel (In hind sight I shouldn't have been trying to ride on gravel), I've had a close encounter with the roundabout at the top of the dual carriage way near Tescos in Newbury. Its a great story. I even thought I had the hang of it a couple of weeks ago and, whilst showing off, fell into a lamp post. So things are looking hopeful!
But I really need your help to raise as much money as possible for The Royal Marsden Hospital to make all of this worth while.
The Royal Marsden Hospital is a world leading treatment, research and diagnosis centre for cancer patients. They rely on donations from the general public to keep fuelling this constant battle against cancer and the effects it has on patients and their families.
