Flora London Marathon 2009 · 26 April 2009 ·

Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.

Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

There is no point fulfilling a challenge as great as the London Marathon if the only beneficiary would be my ego (which some people might say is big enough already!!!). Taking on my 1st marathon is a big enough challenge but, with your help, in completing this life-long ambition, I will be able to help a very worthy cause.

The Parkinsons Disease Society helps not just those with the degenerative condition but also those around them; family, friends and carers. They also plough money into ongoing research of the condition; its causes, treatments and who knows maybe one day a cure?!?

Parkinsons is a disease which has touched my life as a very close friend of our family was diagnosed with a related illness at a reasonably young age. We saw his condition develop quickly and the impact it had on his quality of life and that of his family. He sadly passed away in 2005 leaving his wife and two brilliant boys who are now developing into great young men.

Every penny raised in my efforts will go towards supporting families in similar circumstances and I personally want to thank everyone who sponsors me. I understand that financial situations are not great across the world at this time but the smallest of donations will count just as much as the largest.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Parkinson's Disease Society gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now!
