Story
My sisters and I are running the Manchester Half Marathon on October 14th 2018 in memory of my beautiful daughter, Ada Port.
Ada was born on the 14th May 2018, premature at 26 weeks due to Pprom and later placenta abruption.
Ada lived for four precious hours.
During the days after we were cared for on the Eden Suite, a special bereavement ward at Heartlands Hospital. Whilst my wife recovered, the bereavement midwives on Eden Suite started creating memories for us, using a memory box donated by the Lily Mae foundation.
Memory boxes help families start the grieving process, they contain things you just can't think of in such a time of grief, but can mean everything to you in such a short space of time.
To not have any of what they contain would make the process so much harder. To know that even though we have lost our daughter we can hold on to precious items; handprints, footprints, photographs, her first teddy. It means a huge amount to have these things at home with us.
It helps with the feeling of emptiness.
We would like to be able to help other families like ours. The parents, brothers and sisters, grandparents, uncles and aunties, cousins, nieces and nephews, wider family and close friends who are all affected so deeply by the loss of a baby they had been so excited to have in this world.
They deserve to have something to hold onto.
By donating to the Lily Mae Foundation you can make a difference to the lives of those who suffer from the inconsolable loss of their baby.
Please go without something and instead make a donation, no matter how big or small.
It will make a huge difference to parents who need it the most.
To encourage your donation, I promise that my sisters, Sue and Nat, and myself, are pushing ourselves to our limits to run the Manchester Half Marathon. In training alone we have already covered a combined 600Km. That’s no small feat.
We’ll be pushing ourselves wearing our Lily Mae Foundation tops for 13.1 miles on October 14th.
Please push yourself and make a donation.
Thank you
