Story
The Team: Aidan Webb, Tom Mordue, Matt Rogers, Jess Pamphlett, Kath Mordue, George Robinson, John Cole, Tom Smith & the glue that will surely hold it all together (?), the technical support team: Nick Brookfield and Richard Beacham.
On March 22nd we start our journey, cycling 175 miles in 3 days, dipping our rear wheels in the sea at Morecambe, with a brutal uphill day 1 riding up to the yorkshire Dales, continuing across the country and finishing with our front wheels in the sea in Bridlington...There'll even be camping on the Friday night, in the blazing March Yorkshire weather....
We'll be cycling in loving memory of Isla Mai Webb, who was born prematurely and sadly left us in March last year and we'll be cycling in support of Adele Cross's fundraising campaign. Adele is running the London Marathon in April and raising money for the baby grow appeal, so we thought we would help her out......
One in every 9 babies in the UK is born either premature or sick. That’s over 80,000 babies every year with one being admitted to special care every six minutes. The vital care that babies receive after birth can have a profound impact on the rest of their lives. For families struggling to cope, this will be one of the most difficult, emotional and stressful times of their lives.
Neonatal care is incredibly important - all babies need special care but for some it is vital. Although let's face it, this will be a great weekend for everyone taking part, more importantly the opportunity to take part whilst raising money for the Babygrow appeal - to build a new Neonatal Unit at the Countess - means all the more. Babies should be given the best chance possible to live a full and happy life and their families should be safe in the knowledge that the best care is available for the one they love.
Please dig deep and support the team and make a donation that will make a difference to many babies and their families - and remember all the severe saddle pain, back ache, headaches (yorkshire ale hangovers?) and frozen limbs the team will have to endure to complete this challenge - Thank you!
