On the 15th September 2007 I shall be embarking on a 7 day cycle from the very top of Ireland to the very bottom... seriously! That's 416 miles. I'm really excited about it because it will be a great way to get fit and I've always wanted to cycle through Ireland, what a great way to see some stunning scenery!

I'm also excited about the fact that I'll be raising money for a very worthwhile charity. Everyone knows someone who has suffered from cancer or who has had a loved one suffer from it, and around 40% of us will develop cancer at some time in our lives. Marie Curie Cancer care provides high quality nursing totally free, to give terminally ill patients the choice of dying at home surrounding by their families.

Every year, cancer claims the lives of 150,000 people in the UK. At present there are more than 2,500 Marie Curie nurses caring for patients in their own homes across Northern Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales. They care for around 17,000 patients a year. £20 will pay for one hour of nursing care by a Marie Curie nurse.
