Story
May the peace, mercy and blessings of Allah (SWT) be showered upon you and your loved ones. Sahl ibn Sa’d reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “The one who cares for
an orphan and myself will be together in Paradise like this,” and he held his two fingers together to illustrate - Sahih Bukhari 5659
We would like to begin by offering our sincere gratitude for giving us the opportunity to share this vision which can only be implemented with your duaas and support.
Poverty is an unfortunate force which is reaping catastrophic affects amongst our brothers and sisters globally with an estimated 1.3 billion living in extreme poverty. Accessing basic quality of life is something which falls outside of normality for these underprivileged people. In particular, orphans in third world countries are experiencing a double injustice in that they are deprived of the love and nurture which every human being yearns for in addition to an economical struggle. To go through childhood without the protection and care of a parent or guardian is one of the most unimaginable and traumatic experiences a child can be subjected to. Currently there are 153 million orphans living amongst us globally.
The following handful of statistics offers a small insight into the magnitude of deprivation that orphans are faced with on a regular basis particularly in reference to India:
-Nearly 20% of Delhi’s population are slum dwellers.
-A third of the world’s malnourished children live in India according to UNICEF, where “46 percent of all children below the age of three are too small for their age, 47 percent are underweight and at least 16 percent are wasted.”
-India has the highest rate of child marriage in the world, where one in three girls become child brides. Many girls are married off at an early age, become servants or even prostitutes just to survive.
Through Orphans In Need, we the volunteers from across the country have been given a platform to implement the responsibility in helping those less fortunate than us. H.O.M.E. which stands for ‘Helping Orphans Meet Equality’ is a campaign that we have formulated in order to raise funds to fuel 'The Orphans Village' in New Delhi.
' The Orphans Village' is a development which will provide the underpinning material infrastructure, financial support, medical care, education provision, clothing, toys and all necessary facilities but at the core of our work is each individual child who is given love, respect and security of the highest quality possible. Upon completion The Orphans Village will accommodate for hundred of orphans who have lost their parents, feature an integrated school and Masjid, educate individuals to the highest local standards, access to medical treatment and counselling in addition to many other essential arrangements.
We pledge to raise enough funds to contribute towards this project and make it a success. This we aim to do by raising funds and sponsorships for a mountain trek arranged for this summer alongside other dedicated volunteers. The climb will be on Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the UK located in the peaks of Scotland. Our fundraising campaign will also consist of other various means such as street collections, stalls etc. We therefore ask you to donate what is within your means and do so whole heartedly to provide a form of support for our campaign and most importantly we ask for your sincere duas.
We pray that Allah (SWT) accepts our contributions and rewards you in this world and the hereafter...
