The Downslink Ultra · 7 October 2018

Jigsaw4u is a children’s charity based in SW London which was established in 1997. We support children, young people & their families through experiences such as the death of a parent, being in foster care, having a parent in prison, witnessing domestic abuse, being exploited & much more.

Story

After running 50km along the Thames Path last year for Jigsaw4u as part of the super-human team from Close Brothers Retail Finance, I promised myself (& my family...) at least a year off from any more long distance races or challenges...

But having been inspired by the fundraising efforts of the Close Brothers 3 Peaks team, I’ve recently signed up for The Downslink Ultra marathon on 7th October 2018 & once again will be donning my Jigsaw4u running top for this fantastic charity.

The Downslink Ultra marathon is a 60km race starting from the North Downs at St Martha’s Hill in Guildford, passing the South Downs to finish in Shoreham-by-Sea on the south coast. Fortunately this time I will be running with my older brother Nick, which should help make the 7 or 8 hours of running a little more bearable...!

We selected Jigsaw4u, a small charity based in Mitcham close to our Close Brothers Wimbledon office, for the amazing work they do in helping children and young people in South West London put the pieces back together in their lives - be that after bereavement, domestic abuse or child sexual exploitation.

If we can raise £500 from The Downslink Ultra this would pay for therapy for 2 young people over a year to help them cope with and recover from emotional distress.

If you are short on time, an alternative quick & easy way to donate £10 is to simply text JSAW49 £10 to 70070, and the donation will be included on your next phone bill instead.

Many thanks in advance,

Alex
