This is a picture of our lovely son Alexander on his 7th Birthday. Without the research and support from the CGD Trust, Alex may not have made this birthday. He was born with CGD (an immune disorder that makes it nearly impossible to fight any fungal or bacterial infection). At 10 months he had already had 2 operations but the wounds from the operation wouldn’t heal. He was diagnosed at Great Ormond Street when he was one and thanks to the research from CGD Trust Alex was put onto a daily drug regime. This has resulted in him leading a relatively normal life with only a few hospital stays. His life is a fine balance as the threat from bacteria and fungal spores are all around us but thanks to the support from the Trust, advice and a dedicated CGD Nurse is only a phone call away. I am running this 10k to thank the trust for giving us our gentle son who gives all those around him lots of love and laughter.
