The Isle of Wight Challenge 2014 · 23 August 2014 to 24 August 2014 ·

Coming out, or being outed as LGBTQ+ can lead to young people being made homeless. This is the reality for 77% of the young people akt supports. We proudly offer safe homes and better futures for LGBTQ+ people aged 16-25.

Story

Hi there,

Thanks for visiting my page. I'm completing the Isle of Wight Challenge - 106k in 24 hours (that's more than two marathons and a half back to back!) in order to raise money for the Albert Kennedy Trust.

The AKT help to support LGBT young people in danger (from abusive homes, familial rejection and bullying) by providing safe accommodation for them to live while deploying professional counselling and coaching services to help them get their lives back on track. These take on the form of getting the young people re-engaged with their education or training, back on the path to employment as well as independent living skills, budgeting, social integration, health and nutrition as well as general well being.

When they've been let down by their families, they should know that they are part of our family, and we as their LGBT sisters and brothers love and celebrate them for them, and will help them how we can.

Please, what ever you can, donate to help the AKT with the fantastic work they do of sheltering, housing and caring for disadvantaged and endangered LGBT youth.

Thank you,

Alexis x  http://www.akt.org.uk

P.S

I'm going to need a lot of musical inspiration to keep me going, when donating money, name me a song to add to my playlist and it'll make me think of you and help keep me going!
