Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
The ride was completed ! I rode round with three friends from Norfolk, and it was a great morning out, though it was cold with a northerly breeze. Happily, it stayed dry - and even sunny for the
first twenty miles or so. Described as 'gently rolling terrain', the
50 mile route certainly had nothing like the climbs on the 100 mile route which
went right into the Peak District, but nevertheless it was a good deal hillier than anything in Norfolk, and the organisers thoughtfully threw in the longest and steepest
climb when we were within earshot of the Finish PA system ... I may have been
old, slow and carrying far too much weight on those climbs, but I never walked,
unlike quite a few !
A fuller account with more photos will be going round to all my sponsors in due course.
There is still plenty of time to donate through this page. I hope that by the time I've collected all my sponsorship, I'll have raised (with Gift Aid) at least £3,000 for the Prostate Cancer Charity. That is an extraordinarily generous response from you all. Thank you.
The Prostate Cancer Charity has provided me with useful advice about my condition and its treatment. The Charity is the UK’s leading voluntary organisation working with people affected by prostate cancer. Their work is effective through research, support, information and campaigning. 35,000 men in the UK are diagnosed with the disease every year, and every year 10,000 men in the UK die of prostate cancer.
If you can make a donation to help my fundraising for the Charity, I'd be very grateful. You can do it through this webpage: it's simple, safe and secure (see my PS).
best wishes ~ Alex
