Story
Especially for those of you who didnt think I went through enough pain last time, I'm doing it again. Yes thats right, on April 13th 2008 I will be running the Flora London Marathon, only this time two things have changed. First, I will be running for Magen David Adom, the emergency service in Israel, whom I run fundraising activies all year round. Second, I intend to complete this one on two feet and not all fours!!
Magen David Adom (The Red Shield of David) in Israel was established in 1930 by a group of seven public spirited men. With its first shop on the corner of Rothschild Nachlachat Binyamin and it only resource a small converted van into an ambulance, MDA has grown into Israel's nationwide emergency service, answering the needs of all Israelis regardless of religion, creed or ethnic background. Over 90% of MDA's workforce are volunteers, whilst the organisation is primarily funded by Freind's societies around the world as well as a combination of voluntary donations and payments from patients.
In running the marathon I intend to raise money to buy a defibrillator. Defibrillation is the definitive treatment for the life-threatening cardiac arrhythmias ventricular fibrillation and pulseless ventricular tachycardia. Defibrillators are one of the most important tools carried by ambulances. They are the only proven way to resuscitate a person who has had a cardiac arrest. With your help, we can help contribute to the essential emergency work carried out by MDA ambulances daily.
Thank you very much for helping support this worthy cause and my marathon appeal. If you would like to further support my marathon efforts can i suggest joining me for a run around hyde park at 6.30 every morning?
Thanks again.
