Beat is the UK’s eating disorder charity. Our mission is to end the pain and suffering caused by eating disorders. These serious mental illnesses ruin and, too often, take lives. Our Helpline is available online or by phone for anyone suffering, as well as their family and friends.

Story

Thank you for visiting this fundraising page in Memory of Alex Ward.

Tragically, Alex passed away on 4th June 2020 at his father's home having battled with Anorexia for the past 27 years.

It was initially set off by bullying at boarding school where Alex was pursuing his passion for Ballet. Alex had so many dreams for the future, but his relationship with Anorexia grew too deeply and became a lifelong battle.

In between Alex's countless hospital admissions and a regular dance with death, he cared for the elderly suffering from Dementia, regularly attended a local choir and church.

He had a love for dance, music, style, languages and animals. Alex was hoping to recover from Anorexia and study as a teacher of languages along with the dream of getting married and having a family.

Please join Alex's family and friends at this very upsetting time in raising money for Beat, the UK's Eating Disorder Charity. Beat exists to end the pain and suffering caused by eating disorders.
