Sheridan, Imogen, Harry and Emily are taking part in the Bar Pro Bono Law School Challenge 2009-10

The aim of the Bar Pro Bono Unit is to make justice freely accessible to all members of society and this is our way of helping towards the aim (whilst maybe giving our careers a helping hand at the same time!)

We have been asked to come up with fun and imaginative ways of raising money to help the Bar Pro Bono Unit in its endeavours to make sure members of the whole community are represented effectively within the justice system.

The way in which you can help us is to sponsor us and support our cake sales (subject to approval by the Belgrave building). So what will we all be doing in return for the wads of cash you will generously give...

Sheridan and Imogen are going to run the equivalent of 4 marathons over the next 6 weeks.

Harry will run the equivalent of 2 marathons over the next 6 weeks.

Emily will swim the equivalent of 1 marathon over the next 6 weeks. (This is much harder than running and is no reflection on her level of fitness...honestly!)

As we're sure you are all aware, getting into the legal profession is tricky business and we, certainly, need all the help we can get so in return for our slog, the team that rasies the most amount of money by the 12th March 2010 win, an audience with a High Court judge, half a day at Blackstone Chambers and a chance to quiz a new pupil and tenant about their success and experiences.

We hope that you can help us and give generously to a very worthy cause whilst helping us along with our careers.

The Bar Pro Bono Unit helps to find pro bono (free) legal assistance from volunteer barristers for individuals or organisations with deserving cases who cannot afford legal assistance and cannot obtain public funding (legal aid). They assist with advice, representation and help at mediation in cases in any area of law and in any court or tribunal in England and Wales. This assistance is vital if we wish to have an adequately functioning legal system, with justice for all.
