I first walked into The Christie in December 2013 after my husband Jamie aged 36 had been diagnosed five months previously with Non Hodgkin's Mantel Cell Lymphoma. From this first visit we were welcomed by friendly experienced staff who were dedicated to their work. We were at ease and felt confident that the Christie team had the knowledge and staff to treat Jamie with the best possible care.
Two weeks later he was starting treatment and again staff were friendly, understanding and knowledgeable making such a horrendous day bearable. I left him that evening knowing he was in safe hands and that he was in an experienced place. He continued treatment for six months, with a stem cell transplant to finish. This was done in a state of the art ward which was immaculately clean and again the staff so very friendly, making the three weeks on the ward so much easier. Our three year old daughter was allowed to spend time with him in a beautiful play room just off the ward where they could draw and play together as well as spot the purple wizard bus passing by.
Jamie is at the moment cancer free and travels the 40 mile there and back trip every three months for bloods and other monitoring. He has also spent a Saturday helping training Doctors diagnose cases, as he wants to give as much back to the Christie as he can for the treatment and care he received from them.
I truly believe this care and treatment wouldn't have been received anywhere else and will be grateful to the a Christie forever.
