Story
Imagine this ... well - there's lots of things I could ask you to imagine but I'll stick to just one: Imagine driving around the UK with your daughter or son, on and off for a year or longer, trying to find a school willing to take them on and being told: 'no, we can't help you' - or finding one that looked promising to not be at all. Imagine this when you knew your child was highly intelligent but was becoming increasingly mentally ill because they were no longer getting the support they needed - to the point where you were facing a future of institutionalisation.
Not good.
Finally, after a failed 3 day assessment in May 2019, an admissions officer with vision and a 2nd 14 day assessment in November, Exeter called me, ahead of their formal report and said: 'we think we can help'. I'm almost in tears typing this, just as I was when I got that news.
Now, not only will Iri who is Deaf-Autistic get the Deaf-first education he so badly needs - he'll join a school which has been reimagined and rebuilt as a state-of-the-art world class destination, built in a place planning to become the UK's no.1 Deaf-friendly town.
So, I want to raise some money for the school to help ensure they have all the equipment and technology they need but most of all, I want to say thank you for believing in Iri.
