Story
In 1 month I'm attempting Mt Ama Dablam (6,812 m / 22,349 ft) in Nepal’s Eastern Himalayas. It is considered a significant undertaking for any serious mountaineer and no less challenging than some of the 7000ers and 8000ers due to its technical difficulty.
This year I'm fundraising for Protect Our Winters to support a cause close to my heart (and to make all the hard training that went into it worth something!)
It was my love for the icy, snowy landscape that got me into high altitude mountaineering in the first place. I can't really put in words the stunning view from high up and just the intact beauty of nature. However, it's also haunting that from the South Island of New Zealand to remote mountain ranges in Tibet, I'm witnessing glaciers retreating and camp sites at almost 6,000 m which used to be covered in snow now bare rock surfaces. I personally owe a lot to nature and outdoors for indulging my adventure-seeking and escaping from normalcy, and would love to give back. If you also enjoy getting out there, please consider donating to POW, a charity founded around the outdoor community to fight climate change.
