Hey Everyone
Before you fall off your chair with surprise or horror at the thought cycling 300km over five days, let me assure you that I have indeed chosen to cycle in a difficult but spectacular event from Agra to Jaipur, India organised by ‘Cycling for Charity’, a project to help disadvantaged children.
The ride is no stroll, it's not even an easy pedal. I am told it requires determination and that I will have to undergo rigorous training before the ride and experience the pain and duress of the ride itself. The challenge is all the greater for me because I have not ridden a bicycle for years, I am ‘overweight’ as you guys know and get short of breath after playing just 10 minutes football at Power League!
But the even greater challenge, other than trying to train during Freshers Week, is to raise the minimum sponsorship of £750 and knowing just how much ‘Cycling for Charity’ needs help, I really would appreciate your help in achieving this target. For my part, I have dug deep and made a personal donation of £100 to get me started and therefore any contribution from you would be most welcome and immensely appreciated. Whatever it is, the children that this money will benefit will always be extremely grateful.
You might well ask why with all those difficulties am I doing it? I have never done anything like it before and probably never will again. ‘Cycling for Charity’ is a cause I feel close to, having been to India already this year and the challenge is exciting.
