Story
This pandemic has brought a very hard, confusing and uncertain time for everybody, no matter where you're from, you're age or circumstances. We felt the word 'Patience' is one out of a handful right now that connects every single person in the world at this current time. We have been forced to be patient with everything from the government and supermarket staff, to our friends, family and of course ourselves. This can be hard and frustrating, but we must learn to gain more patience in order to help ourselves and others through this.
In addition: Save the UK's Charities General fundraising has been hit very hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. Thousands of fundraising events have been cancelled and many charities, particularly smaller ones, are struggling to maintain services because of this huge reduction in income. This impacts all sectors of society from children to the elderly as well as the vital work in areas such as palliative care, serious diseases, mental health, housing support, food supplies and countless others that charities support.
We have chosen FareShare Midlands as they are a smaller charity and their function in the bigger picture is tremendous. They supply perfectly good surplus food which would otherwise go into our landfill sites, to front-line charities who then make them into meals and food packages for a variety of individuals and families. From schools feeding particularly low income families and children, to elderly individuals who are isolated, and during this pandemic self-isolating due to age and health reasons. FareShare Midlands' work also goes to help homeless shelters, domestic abuse refugees and drug & alcohol rehab units and food banks for individuals and families on a low income.
