"my story"

After returning to the uk from a family holiday in Spain in October 2013,my dad started to feel some discomfort in his abdomen, we thought it was a little bit of food poisoning, as the the pain lingered for another few weeks, the doctors scanned him for Gaul stones in his bladder, this is when the ultra sound scan showed he has a lump in his pancreas, my mom and dad kept it to themselves over the christmas period, letting us "kids" (I have two brothers) enjoy christmas first, then the day after New Year's Day dad told me his devastating news, which to be honest didn't really sink in, and although we didn't know what the lump in the pancreas was, we had our own ideas, they sent my dad for a full ct scan at the beginning of january 2014, it took nearly 3 weeks for the results to come back to us, and on the 23rd of January, my dad was diagnosed with having terminal pancreatic cancer and secondary in his liver, I will never forget that day for a long as I live, and those McMillan nurse's must have the hardest job in the world, can you imagine? Telling someone they are going to die? And not knowing when? Cancer is a wicked disease, it's going to force me on a journey I don't want to travel, it will force me to witness things I wouldnt wish on my worst enemy, I wake up every morning with my world shattered, listening to people moan and groan about this and that, petty trivial things, and I think just shut up and start living your life, anyway, this is what has drawn me to run race for life, it's not about how long or short the race is, or how much money is donated, for me it's about raising awareness for cancer, and I hope one day we can smash this awful disease, and kick it's ass once and for all.......
