Story

I am running the Nottingham Half Marathon for the British Heart Foundation with my good friend James Taylor in the forefront of my mind. James was forced to retire from not only his job as a professional cricketer but from the game he once only dreamed of playing for a living. In April his world was turned upside down by a sudden heart condition which has lead to his retirement. James was warming up for a game in Cambridge when he suddenly felt unwell. His heart was racing, he had extreme sweats and just knew that what was happening, wasn't normal. He obviously didn't play the game and made his way back to Nottingham whilst still feeling really unwell. A good 5 hours later from when he felt unwell, his fiancée and my good friend Josey saw James and immediately suggested that they should go to the hospital. (This would later prove to be a crucial decision and effectively saved his life) By this point his heart was literally bouncing out of his chest. Once arriving at A&E he was immediately seen and hooked up to the heart rate monitor and his heart rate was at an astonishing 265 beats per minute. This is just unheard of and the fact he physically walked into the hospital has been classed as a Miracle by the doctors. He should of been on a stretcher. The fact he was so fit and healthy saved his life. James is so brave and is an inspiration. What he has gone through is terrible but to be as positive and upbeat as he is just shows how important and precious life is.

James is due to have an operation on his heart to fit a defibrillator which will help kick his heart back into rythym if it was to jump out of sync in the future. We are just so pleased that we still have a good friend with us, it could of easily been so so different.

Please give generously, this is for a great cause and hopefully with your help we can raise a good amount of money for the British Heart Foundation. I am not a natural runner and in fact the longest running race I have completed is a 5k fun run, so with that in mind this is going to be a test but I am willing to put myself through the pain for a great cause 👍🏼

Thank you
