Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

For me, this all started back in 2013 while listening to a conversation between 2 people about doing the 3 peaks and cycling between them, before I knew it the question "are you coming" came out, I still have no idea how or why the word “yes” popped out but it did, at the time it all seemed to sound so easy walk up some hills and pedal a bike piece of cake.

A quick Google of what was actually involved and OMG set in, not one to turn down a challenge I started to plan how to take it on, I started to make a list of what I would need;

1.    A good pair of walking boots

2.    Rack sack

quickly scraping the list when I realised (1) should have been a bike, being such an expert on bikes these days I decided I would like a white one, a few days later I collected a used Halfords special I found online and off I went (except when it was cold or raining or to windy)

As the months have rolled by I am happy to say training has got a lot more serious (except when it rains!). The bike has undergone some changes with much needed upgrades hmm carbon bits, and now at least in my mind I have a good idea of the scale of what we are about to do.

I am not going alone I will be joining Stuart McGeehan, Kevin Jackson and Steve Moss.
We are not a group of well conditioned lean athletes and Stuart describes himself as getting close to the old gummer age which makes it even more of a challenge.

Doing it for charity will no doubt drive us on though the pain and suffering together, but we know this is nothing compared to the fight against cancer people endure daily.
We have chosen Macmillan cancer support, because of their dedication to supporting everyone touched by cancer, so that the millions of people diagnosed have someone to turn to.
Whatever the situation – whether it’s you who has cancer, or a friend or relative – no one has to face it alone-We can all do something to help-We can all be part of the team- Together, we are Macmillan Cancer Support.

Our challenge is this:

  • To climb the 3 highest peaks in the UK - Snowdon in Wales, Scafell Pike in England and finishing with Ben Nevis in Scotland
  • To cycle the near 500 miles between the peaks
  • And for good measure, then hopefully cycle the Caledonian Canal for West Coast (Fort William) to East Coast (Inverness) of Scotland - a further 70 miles
  • 8-9 days in total starting on 9th August, 2014
  • All in it will be in the order of 600 miles!!!
