Andrew's Marsden March

The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity - The Marsden March 2012 · 11 March 2012 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Some of you may be aware of how tough the last few weeks have been for both me and my family.
A week before Christmas 2011, I lost a good friend to cancer and then just before the end of January 2012 I also lost a much loved uncle. In between those 2 deaths my Dad collapsed with what we thought was a stroke. Upon further investigation it turned out to be a brain tumour.
To say this all knocked us for six is somewhat of an understatement. However, as a family we all pulled together and with the love, support and encouragement of friends, relations and work colleagues we battled and made sure we were there for Dad and helped him in his fight with the tumour.
I'm pleased to say that the tumour was operable and thanks to the brilliant work of the surgeons the tumour has been removed. Dad is currently undergoing radiotherapy at the Royal Marsden and is expected to make a very good recovery and we hope to have him around for a good few years yet.
I'm taking part in the 2012 Marsden March as it's the least I can do to say a big and heartfelt thank you to the Royal Marden for the amazing work that they do. It's also in honour of Atkinson Morley and the surgeons there too who looked after Dad so well and ensured that we will be able to spend some quality time with him in the years to come. It's also a big thank you to my Dad too. He's battled through with a smile on his face and has never given up. He was determined to fight this illness and this is for him aswell.
I hope that you feel that you would be able to sponsor me in taking part in the 14 mile Mardsen March walking from their Chelsea Hospital to the Sutton one. Anything you feel that you would be to give would be appreciated. Likewise you want to know more just please ask.
