Cancer Focus Northern Ireland - we care for families affected by cancer with family support, counselling and other care services. We also do important cancer prevention work in schools, workplaces and communities, and fund ground-breaking research. All the money you donate stays in Northern Ireland.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and thanks for any donation large or small.

NI Decaman is going to be a challenge of a lifetime and (hopefully) a sucessful end to about a year's worth of training.  Each day involves 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile ccyle and then the small matter of a marathon to finish...oh.....and just repeat for 10 days in a row.  Simples!

I've no doubt there will be the highest of highs, the lowest of lows, some of the deepest, darkest holes to work my way through and a few other unplanned surprises and issues to face (not least the fact I'm an eating machine at the best of times never mind during a 15,000 calories per day event!).

Whatever problems I face or however much "poop" hits the fan during this event it's nothing compared to the battle a cancer sufferer faces.  This isn't a guilt trip or emotional blackmail, just genuine support and praise for the work Ulster Cancer Foundation (now Cancer Focus NI) does in the community.

Their work to help prevent cancer and also support sufferers and their families is invaluable and makes many lives better - some without even knowing it!

Thanks again for any support and donations - I'm on Facebook and Twitter (@theNornIronMan) - feel free to leave any cheeky, supportive or otherwise messages.  I'll keep you posted on progress and make sure pictures of the hairy shoulders are updated regularly!

Thanks

Andrew
