Story
Friends, Family and Colleagues,
In August 2008 I finish as a Foundation Doctor in Manchester and have been selected to join a Raleigh International Expedition to the jungles of Malaysia as a volunteer medic.
Raleigh International is a charity passionate about working with young people and helping them to positively change their lives through challenging and unique experiences.
I shall be leaving the comfort and security of my life in England to travel across the world to work with a diverse group of 12 young people, many from under privileged backgrounds, as a trained medic and volunteer leader. I will be looking after their daily medical needs, assisting and supporting their personal development and if necessary providing immediate emergency medical care.
We will be working closely with local communities and participating in environmental and social projects before undertaking a challenging and gruelling adventure project.
It will be 3 months of intense and challenging work and I need to raise £1950 for the charity to join the expedition and I hope to make some of this by setting myself another challenge…running 26 miles in the Edinburgh Marathon!!
Both the expedition and the marathon are new and exciting challenges in which I hope to succeed with your help and support.
I look forward to seeing you at the finish line
Thank you,
Andrew
